As many of you know James Horner composed the music for An American Tail, and Fievel Goes West.

In my opinion the background music to the first movie was really what gave it it's emotional punch. The movie would never have struck a cord with me personally the way it did without his orchestration. He also helped compose "Somewhere Out There" and "Dreams to Dream", two of the most beautiful and well-known songs from the franchise.

It didn't matter what the movie was he wrote for, his orchestrations were always top-notch. For instance, I think most of the reason I liked Once Upon a Forest was because of his soundtrack for it.

What were some of your favorite musical pieces he wrote? "The Great Fire" to the An American Tail soundtrack always got me, and to make a confession, that outro to the ending credits of An American Tail always made my eyes water. "Somewhere Out There" and "Dreams to Dream" need no introduction, they are masterpieces. Favorites of mine from other movies include "Casper's Lullaby" from Casper, and "Once Upon a Time With Me" from Once Upon a Forest.

Our childhoods have been silenced on this day. Rest in peace James Horner.
